How Tokenization Keeps Your Info Secure.
By Jeff Aegerter, Branch Manager/Loans
The word “tokenization” not only sounds super hi-tech, it is. Tokenization is what works behind the scenes allowing you to safely make purchases using your phone’s mobile wallet.
Tokenization essentially adds an extra level of security to sensitive data like your debit or credit card numbers – keeping your info safe and from prying eyes.
Here’s how it works…
When using your debit or credit card through a mobile wallet, your card number is replaced with a series of randomly-generated numbers, which is called a “token.”
The tokens are then passed through the internet or wireless networks to process the payment without your actual bank details being exposed.
This process makes it nearly impossible for hackers to get their hands on any of your data. Moreover, each token is only valid with one merchant – safeguarding your information even further.
In a nutshell, tokenization makes using your phone’s mobile wallet safer than swiping your physical debit and credit cards. So you can safely say goodbye to plastic and hello to digital tokens.
